There is no general monetary limit for personal purchases shipped from one EU country to Greece. However, unusually high-value or commercial-looking orders may be subject to additional review.
Is there a quantity limit for EU shopping?
There is no fixed quantity limit for personal use purchases. However, ordering large quantities of the same product may result in the shipment being considered commercial, which can trigger additional obligations.
How does VAT apply to EU shopping?
For EU purchases, VAT is usually included in the product price at checkout. Many sellers operate under the EU OSS scheme and may apply either their local VAT or the Greek VAT rate. Greece’s standard VAT rate is 24%.
What makes a product qualify as an EU shipment?
To qualify as an intra-EU shipment, the product must be dispatched from a warehouse located within the European Union. The seller being EU-based alone is not sufficient if the shipment originates outside the EU.
Excise duty (alcohol & tobacco)
Alcohol, tobacco, and similar products are subject to excise regulations even within the EU. Quantities exceeding personal use thresholds may be treated as commercial and subject to additional rules or charges.
